Nokia is Back: Nokia 6 Launched in China.

After a bad romance with Microsoft that ended in disaster, Nokia is back in business with the launch of a mid-range Android phone, Nokia 6. Made by HMD Global who now has license to the Nokia brand, Nokia 6 is an average mid-range smartphone with decent specifications available exclusively in China.

It’s the beginning of an interesting 2017 for Nokia and the first impressions made look good. Nokia 6 looks like a well-designed smartphone for a mid-range device. It’s a 5.5-inch device with 1080p resolution running Android 7.0 Nougat. It has the display unit covered with a 2.5D Gorilla glass. An octa-core Snapdragon 430 chipset is buried inside and Adreno 505 GPU powers the graphics. It comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The main camera is a 16MP shooter with PDAF and f/2.0 aperture. The selfie camera is an 8MP shooter also with f/2.0 aperture. With Dolby Atmos and dual amplifiers, the phone should pack some good sound quality. According to HMD Global, “The decision by HMD to launch its first Android smartphone into China is a reflection of the desire to meet the real world needs of consumers in different markets around the world.” The device will become available “early 2017” exclusively in China on JD.com for CNY 1699 ($245). For now, it’s unclear if this device will be launched globally.
