ABU Basic (IJMB) Programme Admission 2017/2018 Announced
The management of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria has announced admission into its Basic (IJMB) programme for the 2017/2018 academic session.

The Basic (IJMB) programme is an Advance Level Programme intended for candidates aspiring to again admission into any Nigerian University through Direct Entry (DE). The programme last for twelve (12) months divided into two semesters. During this period, students are exposed to intensive lectures from Mondays to Thursdays every week and a weekly C.A. test on Fridays.
The school's highly equipped laboratories avail the students the opportunity of undertaking all the practical required for IJMB programme.
Compulsory field trip/work are also organised for Geography and Biology students. To ensure quality, internal assessment mechanisms such as daily record of lecture attendance is kept.
Promotional and mock examinations are also administered. Only students that perform above average in these assessments/ examinations (including the weekly CAs) will be allowed to register for the final IJMB examinations which are usually taken in February yearly.
Entry Requirements Into Basic (IJMB) Programme
Candidates aspiring to be admitted into the Basic (IJMB) programme:
Must have sat and passed the pre-admission test examined by the School.
Must obtain a minimum of five (5) O/L credits from Ordinary Mathematics, English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Geography and Physics.
Must have successful passed through the BIO DATA and Academic screening processes.

The programme is specifically designed for interested candidates from the 19 Northern States including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Nelson Mandela University (formerly Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, NMMU) is a South African university with its main administration in the coastal city of Port Elizabeth. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the minimum APS requirement, additional subject requirements have been set.
These include:
Mathematics: This is required for certain programmes. Only performance in the core Mathematics topics (papers 1 and 2) will be used when making admission decisions. However, school learners are encouraged to also take the optional Mathematics topics. In certain programmes, applicants who have Mathematical Literacy instead of Mathematics may be admitted to a programme where a Mathematics entry requirement has been set. In this instance, additional modules may be added to the programme, which may extend the length of the programme.
Mathematical Literacy: In view of the importance of quantitative literacy for success at Higher Education studies, a minimum of a 3 (40-49%) for Mathematical Literacy is preferred for likely admission to National Higher Certificate and National Diploma programmes and a 4 (50-59%) for likely admission to degree programmes where Mathematics is not a requirement, unless otherwise indicated.

APPLICATIONS FOR ACADEMIC ADMISSION:
Online applications for the university’s 2018 January intake are now open. In order to ensure adequate time for processing, testing, portfolios, interviews and planning by the university and yourself, applications for admission in 2018 should be submitted before 1 August 2017. In addition, places for some qualifications are limited; it is therefore in your best interest to submit your application early.
BTech & Advanced Diploma Applications;
Nelson Mandela University students who are currently completing either a Diploma or National Diploma (NDip) at this university and would like to apply for these qualifications are required to only complete the “BTech and Advanced Diploma Application Form”. The completed form must be submitted to the admissions office before 1 August 2017 (no supporting documentation required).
Prospective students who have already completed their diploma studies either at Nelson Mandela University or elsewhere, and opted to enter the work force or take a gap year before commencing their BTech/Advanced Diploma studies, would need to complete an “online application form” and submit certified copies of their ID, academic record and certificate of conduct along with other documentation in order for their applications to be considered. WAEC Result 2017 is Released..........
The much awaited May / June Waec result 2017 is finally out. The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has just officially announced the release of the 2017 May/ June West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.
Announcing the release of the results online via their Twitter handle, the Head of National Office (HNO), Mr. Isaac Adenipekun, said that a total of 1,567,016 candidates registered for the examination, out of which 1,559,162 candidates sat the examination.
He said that of the total number of candidates that sat the exam, 829,853 were male and 729,309 were female, representing 53.22 per cent and 46.27 per cent respectively.
According to a breakdown of the results, a total of 1,471,151, representing 94.36 per cent have their results fully processed and released, while 95,734 candidates, representing 5.64 per cent have a few of their subjects still being processed due to errors traceable to the candidates.
Such errors are being corrected and the results will be fully processed and released subsequently.
A total of 923,486 candidates, representing 59.22 per cent, obtained minimum of credits in 5 subjects and above, including English Language and Mathematics.
The HNO added that there was a significant improvement in the performance of candidates when compared with the results of 2015 and 2016 examinations with the percentage of candidates in this category in 2015 and 2016 at 38.68 per cent and 52.97 per cent, respectively.
He further stated that candidates will be able to check their results on the Council’s
Waec result checker website within the next 24 hours.

The management of the Federal Government instituted volunteer programme, N-Power has announced a new recruitment assessment test timetable for all candidates that are yet to participate in the computer based examination.
The Npower Volunteer Corps categories are;
(A) N-Power Vaids: Seeks to encourage non-compliant and partially compliant taxpayers to voluntarily declare their correct income.
(B) N-Power Health: Through the N-Power Health programme, young graduates will form part of the 500,000 N-Power Volunteer Corps.
(C) N-Power Teach: The N-Power Teach programme will engage qualified graduates for the benefit of basic education delivery in Nigeria.
(D) N-Power Agro: The Federal Government is engaging 100,000 qualified young Nigerians through the N Power Agro programme.
Applicants who registered between July 15th – 27th will write their assessment tests between August 17th – 31st.
The N-Power Volunteer Corps is a segment of the N-Power programme which has been set out to engage and train 500,000 young unemployed graduates for the benefit of rural development in Nigeria. It is a paid volunteering programme of a 2-year duration.

7. IMPORTANT INFORMATION
(a) Admission to 100 level from Pre-degree is not automatic.
(b) Pre-degree candidates are required to take the 2018 UTME and obtain the minimum pass mark of UTME for Universities, and as agreed upon by the University.
(c) Admission of candidates will be dependent on their Weighted Average in the two semesters, the UTME score and their ranking with respect to the cut-off marks for the chosen courses.
(d) Any candidate who did not satisfy all the above conditions and still goes on to pay school fees into the University’s Account would forfeit such fund.

3. Once your confirmation is successful, log in with your receipt number.
4. Fill the Application form appropriately, submit online and immediately print-out an acknowledgement slip.
5. Candidates are to come to the Examination Hall with the acknowledgement slip.
